Our Work in the Community

At BCI, we are proud of the work we do in the community. In the last financial year, we have taken part in the Red Cross Appeal Day, collected and donated food to the Outer Islands, contributed to christmas hampers for the community, donated to the Children’s Ward at the hospital, and raised funds for the house fire appeal.

There are also other causes we have assisted as well, including:

BCI School Fires Appeal

Our community has been deeply affected by the recent events at Avatea and Nukutere College. To help with the recovery of the schools, we have arranged for free accounts for the banking of donations for each school, and a free advertising campaign to support the drive for these much needed funds.

Donations can be made at any of our branches in Rarotonga and the Outer Islands. If you know somebody who lives overseas and would like to donate, you can find details on this website at News About BCI. You may also visit the Ministry of Education website for other details.

Red Cross People Saver First Aid Courses

School children across Rarotonga participated in first aid training courses provided by Red Cross Cook Islands. BCI sponsored the cost of certificates to the schools. Students will be able to use their first aid skills to provide assistance when an emergency arises.

Are Pa Metua Donation

A generous donation was made to the Are Pa Metua in July this year. Commission from recycled number plates is donated to a charity of our choosing each financial year, with Are Pa Metua our chosen charity for 2013. The Are Pa Metua are key to providing services and activities for our Cook Islands elderly.

Our Staff in the Community

Our staff have also been actively involved in their respective communities with many participating in activities or groups that have helped bring value to the island. This participation includes being active in their churches, local sports groups, cultural groups, and school committees. Just to name a few we have:

Simona Aumetua, our Team Leader of eBanking, who is heavily involved in the CICC Youth Group in Arorangi and well as the Arorangi Rugny Union and League club

Marouna Mita, one of our Customer Services officers here on Rarotonga, who came 1st in the Open Mens V6  18km race Division & 2nd in the Round Island Relay 36km V6 race recently in the Vaka Eiva competition with his team - the Boiler Boys of the Te-Tupu-O-Te-Manava Club.
